Search Engine Ready: Afternic Landers are Now Indexable

While many updates across Afternic are visible to sellers, we also invest heavily behind the scenes to improve the buyer and seller experience. Today, we’re sharing a technical upgrade that has been happening behind the scenes – driven by your feedback.

Your Afternic for sale landers – Request Price, Buy Now, and Custom Lander – are now indexable by Google’s search crawler.

Why This Matters 

Previously, our for sale landers were not accessible to Google’s search crawler. This was a deliberate decision, made for sound SEO reasons related to GoDaddy’s wider site architecture.

But we heard your feedback. Sellers told us they wanted their landers to be discoverable through organic search.

Afternic’s Request Price, Custom, and Buy Now landers are officially indexable. While this doesn’t guarantee a spot in search results for every domain, it means Google can now discover and crawl your listings.

What We Did 

Starting last October, our engineering team began a two-stage process.

Stage one focused on the Request Price lander using Afternic URLs. We reopened these to Google’s search crawler, and we soon saw indexing begin.

Stage two was more complex. For the Custom Lander and Buy Now lander, we needed to update the URL structure to forsale.godaddy.com. This approach keeps the trusted, recognizable GoDaddy URL that buyers know while opening the door to Google’s crawler.

Moving millions of domains to this updated URL was a significant engineering accomplishment – a testament to the cross-team effort behind the scenes at Afternic and GoDaddy.

What does this mean for you as a seller? Alongside Afternic’s vast distribution network and your sale lander, you now have all bases covered. Whether a buyer searches for your domain directly in Google, discovers it through our network, or lands on your for sale page, they can find your name however they choose to look.

What’s Next? 

Our Request Price landers will also move over to GoDaddy URLs. We recently completed extensive testing on an updated lander design, resulting in an increase in conversions with the new look.

With this refreshed design comes stronger GoDaddy branding, and the URL will match – while these landers continue to be fully indexable by search crawlers.

This work will be supported by improved on-lander SEO.
