In 2023, we launched the first iteration of the Custom Lander, known as the Dan.com Lander, at Afternic. This gave Afternic sellers access to the high-performing lander from Dan.com, a GoDaddy brand, to display Buy it Now and Lease to Own purchase options.

Now, as we strive towards a more cohesive platform for domain sales, we are excited to announce the next evolution of the Custom Lander at Afternic. This update includes transitioning to GoDaddy branding and introducing new customizable display options.

New Branding, Classic Design

The latest iteration of the Custom Lander brings about some crucial branding changes. Going forward, we’re leveraging the power of the GoDaddy brand by prominently displaying the GoDaddy logo and switching the lander to a GoDaddy.com URL.

The combination of the GoDaddy branding and the GoDaddy.com URL has proven successful with our Buy it Now lander, and we plan to replicate this success on the Custom Lander.

Customization: Lease to Own, CamelCasing, and more

As the name suggests, the Custom Lander brings with it a level of customization to show buyers the selling options you want to display.

To begin with, sellers will be able to show Buy it Now, Lease to Own, or both options to potential buyers visiting your domain. In time, we’ll also introduce a Make Offer option for buyers to send opening offers directly to our team of expert brokers.

You have the option to customize the capitalization of your domain names. Choose between lower case or CamelCase to distinguish different words in your domain name—it’s up to you.

We’re excited to share that along with the Custom Lander, CamelCasing is now available on our Buy it Now and Request Price landers, too.

Custom Lander and CamelCasing settings are available through your domain details page, by clicking an individual domain name from your Portfolio and heading to “Lander Settings.”

Multi-Language and Currencies 

The Custom Lander is truly an international landing page, catering to visitors the world over.  

Offering an experience in the visitor’s local language and currency is an important part of GoDaddy’s ecosystem that now extends to the Custom Lander. 

When a potential buyer lands on your Custom Lander domain from Spain, for example, they’ll see a Spanish version of your lander. Soon, international visitors will be also able to see purchase options in their local currency for Buy it Now and Lease to Own. 

Why is that important? According to a 2020 study from CSA Research, 76% of people prefer to buy products with information in their native language. Offering a landing page in a buyer’s local language and currency may contribute towards an improved sell through rate. 

How to Activate the Custom Lander 

Our Custom Lander is available now for domain sellers to begin using straight away. If your domain names already use the Dan.com Lander option at Afternic, your domains will automatically switch to this new design.  

If you’re looking to switch to the Custom Lander, here is a brief guide on how you can start using it. 

Firstly, at your domain registrar, switch your nameservers to ns1.afternic.com and ns2.afternic.com (note, if you are already using Afternic nameservers such as ns5.afternic.com and ns6.afternic.com, you’ll still be able to access the Custom Lander.) 

Once you have your domains pointed to Afternic’s nameservers, follow these three simple steps. 

1. Navigate to your Afternic Portfolio page and find the “Bulk Lander Update” button 
2. Enter the domain names you wish to switch to the Custom Lander 
3. Select “Custom Lander” from the Sale Lander type 
4. Select the purchase options you want to show your buyers: Buy it Now, or Buy it Now and Lease to Own

 Your domain names will then begin resolving to the new Custom Lander.

FAQs 

I’m using the Dan.com Lander at Afternic, will I have to change anything to use the Custom Lander? No. The Custom Lander replaces the Dan.com Lander at Afternic. Those domains will automatically switch to the Custom Lander. 

Do I need to ensure that my domains aren’t listed at Dan.com still? Unlike the Dan.com Lander at Afternic, the Custom Lander is entirely separate from the Dan.com system, meaning that you only need to focus on your Afternic listing. 

Can I still access the Dan.com lander? If you’re looking to use the Dan.com lander with Dan.com branding, it is available through Dan.com. However, we recommend testing out the Custom Lander at Afternic.
