Automated Ownership Verification for GoDaddy Domains in Your Linked Account 

Ownership verification is now automated for domains registered in your linked GoDaddy account, reducing listing management work and helping bring your domains to Afternic faster. 

This is the latest benefit of linking your GoDaddy and Afternic accounts, following on from our Nameserver Update release, which lets you switch GoDaddy-registered domains in your linked account to Afternic For Sale landers, directly from Afternic.

Introducing Automated Verification 

When a domain you’re listing at Afternic is already in our system (for example, because a previous owner listed it), we use ownership verification to confirm the listing belongs to you, so it moves to your account and gets in front of buyers faster. 

Until now, sellers followed the same process for every domain needing verification: adding unique TXT or DNS records to match the domain to their account, then manually submitting the verification. 

Sellers with linked GoDaddy accounts made the feedback clear: if the two accounts are already linked, ownership verification should not be required. 

That’s the change we’ve made.

How Automated Verification Works for Linked GoDaddy Accounts 

Automated verification is available for all Afternic sellers adding domains from their linked GoDaddy account. When you submit domains through Add Domains or CSV Upload, Afternic checks two things: 

1. The domain is registered at GoDaddy. 

2. The domain is registered in the same GoDaddy account linked to your Afternic account. 

If both are true, ownership is verified automatically. The domain then goes through our standard listing checks and is listed once approved. 

Bulk uploads work the same way. When you upload a CSV file, Afternic checks each domain against your linked GoDaddy account and handles the verification process for you. 

A domain registered in a GoDaddy account you have not linked to Afternic still goes through ownership verification. 

Unlinked GoDaddy Accounts and Domains at Other Registrars 

Automated verification is possible because of the account link between Afternic and GoDaddy. If your domains are registered with GoDaddy but you haven’t linked that GoDaddy account to Afternic yet, you’ll continue using TXT or DNS verification through the Resolution Center. 

If your domains are registered with other registrars, you can still list them at Afternic and verify ownership through the Resolution Center, where a real-time review can confirm it immediately.

If verification does not complete immediately, we’ll automatically review your verification for up to five days, without you needing to resubmit your request.

Verifying in Bulk Through the Resolution Center 

The Resolution Center is a central hub for domains requiring your attention, and includes bulk actions to help process listings quickly. 

You can find your unique TXT or DNS records through your account settings. Once you’ve added TXT or DNS verification, initiating an ownership verification check in bulk through the Resolution Center is simple: 

1. From the Resolution Center, click Ownership Verification Required. 

2. Select one or more listings.

3. From the footer toolbar, click Verify Ownership.

Checking and Linking Your GoDaddy Account 

Beyond automated verification, linked GoDaddy accounts can access other Afternic benefits, including Nameserver Update, which lets you switch to Afternic For Sale landers without leaving Afternic.

You can check which GoDaddy account is linked by visiting your Afternic Account Profile.  

If your GoDaddy and Afternic accounts aren’t linked yet, you can link them from that same page. Linking takes a couple of minutes and does not change any domain settings.
