What’s New at Afternic? Portfolio Agent, Nameserver Management, and more

Afternic’s latest updates are focused on giving sellers more control over how their portfolios are managed, surfaced, and converted. From Portfolio Agent and nameserver updates to new setup scores and buyer-side transaction tracking, these releases are designed to make listing management clearer, faster, and more actionable.

Seller feedback plays a big part in that work, and many of these updates were shaped by what you’ve told us matters most.

Here’s a look at some of our recent updates.

Portfolio Agent: Conversational Control of Your Listings

In July, we launched Portfolio Agent, a conversational assistant that helps you manage pricing, listing actions, and portfolio data through plain-language prompts.

Managing a domain portfolio means making a lot of small decisions that can influence sales: pricing, Lease to Own, and landers. Portfolio Agent brings those decisions into one workflow.

What it does:

• Update key options including pricing, Lease to Own, and landers
• Identify portfolio gaps like unpriced domains or missing nameserver configurations
• Gather portfolio data using searches, views, and lead counts to inform your strategy

Instead of reviewing listings manually, you can type prompts like “Show me all my unpriced listings” or “Increase domains priced at $1,499 to $1,999” and review the proposed changes before approving.

We’ve chosen to release the agent to accounts with up to 500 domains as we build handling capabilities for larger portfolios. Currently, the agent can take action on up to 500 names at a time. If you manage a larger portfolio and want to try it, reach out to partnerseller@afternic.com.

Nameserver Update: Manage GoDaddy-Registered Listings from Afternic

Sellers have told us they want more ways to manage their GoDaddy-registered domains from Afternic. Nameserver Update is the first in a series of planned connectors between your GoDaddy and Afternic accounts.

The practical difference: fewer portfolio gaps, faster For Sale lander activation, and a 33% lower commission rate when those domains sell.

How it works:

• From your Afternic Portfolio, you can see which listed domains are not currently pointed to Afternic nameservers.
• For GoDaddy-registered domains in your connected GoDaddy account, selecting “Change NS” opens a guided flow that updates the domain to ns1.afternic.com and ns2.afternic.com after you authorize the connection.
• For domains registered outside GoDaddy, selecting “Change NS” shows instructions for updating nameservers at your current registrar.

Bulk updates use the same connector flow through the “Afternic NS” setting in your footer toolbar. You can review the domains before confirming, and nothing changes until you select “Update Nameservers.” 

Portfolio Agent can also help you find GoDaddy-registered listings not pointed to Afternic nameservers and start the switch.

Domain Setup Scores

There are three core actions that, combined, can dramatically increase your chances of a sale:

1. Price your domains
2. Enable Lease to Own
3. Set a For Sale lander

To help you track these, your Afternic dashboard now shows three optimization scores: Buy it Now pricing, Lease to Own, and Afternic nameservers. Each displays the percentage of your portfolio configured for that setting, so you can spot gaps without digging through individual listings.                  

Domains with pricing, Lease to Own enabled, and Afternic nameservers increase the chances of a sale. These scores help you see where your portfolio stands and where setup may be incomplete.

.NOW TLD Support

Following the launch of .NOW on GoDaddy, Afternic now supports .NOW domain listings. Sellers can list their .NOW domains and benefit from Afternic’s distribution network and industry-leading landers.

Buyer Purchase Overview: Real-Time Transaction Tracking

On the buyer side, we introduced a dedicated purchase overview for Afternic transactions made through GoDaddy. Until now, buyers relied on emails to track purchase status. Feedback from buyers was clear: provide a centralized view.

The new overview includes:

• Progress bar: A visual 4-stage tracker: Order Placed, Initiating Transfer, On the Way, Delivered
• Transaction Activity feed: A timeline of every milestone and Transaction Assurance message 
• Direct messaging: Buyers can message the TA team from inside the overview
• Transaction Summary: Delivery status, Order ID, purchase price, and downloadable Payment Receipt

Buyers access the overview through a new Purchases tab on the Negotiations & Purchases page in the GoDaddy portfolio manager. This brings the same transparency we built into the seller-side Transaction Assurance Dashboard to the buyer experience.

Landers Improvements

We’ve also continued improving For Sale landers, adding clearer buyer signals and smoother paths from interest to purchase.

• Fast Transfer Badging: Custom Landers now display a “Fast Transfer” badge for eligible domains. Buyers see upfront that the domain will transfer within minutes after purchase.

• Request Price Lander moves to GoDaddy: We switched our Request Price Lander from Afternic.com to GoDaddy.com URLs. Now, buyers see the consistent, trusted GoDaddy branding throughout the lander inquiry process.

• Price Display on Request Price Landers: As the final stage of our inquiry questionnaire, buyers see the Buy it Now price, giving them the option to purchase immediately instead of going through negotiations. This applies to domains priced at $10,000 or less.

What’s Next?

Recent updates have introduced new ways to manage your portfolio and improved visibility for both sides of the transaction. We’re continuing to build on that work across connectors, agent capabilities, and the buyer experience.
